All Recipes Dinner Spinner Wednesday, November 16, 2016
It's the season of fuzzy sweaters, knee boots, as well as the invasion of all things pumpkin spice *yuck lol*. This season also brings with it, the gathering of family and along with that family dinners! So in case you can get your great Aunt Edna to share the recipe for her famous pie I compiled a couple of apps that can help you out in the kitchen, not just around the holidays but anytime you're stepping into the kitchen, I mean you're going to have your phone with you anyway, so might as well let it be your digital sous chef!
Everywhere you look there's bound to be someone with a phone or a tablet in their hand, from the parents with their smartphone all the way down to the toddler that has a tablet with the silicone protective case on it. We live in a time where that's the norm, I've seen kids as young as 6 with smartphones (Not sure why as they aren't going anywhere alone..but I digress). At the beginning of this school year, my son's school had a Google Chromebook on the supply list, no paper, no pencil just the Chromebook. So technology has always been apart of education, I took keyboarding in high school and we also had computer education in the school. But now it's really apart of the everyday all day while they learn. But here are some tips to help keep an eye on what they do.

You may or may not have noticed the new icon at the bottom of your Facebook app that looks like a little storefront. Well it's exactly what it looks like, Facebook announced the new feature yesterday. It will allow you to buy and sell items with your community. This actually kind of makes sense, at least you have some type of connection with the people instead of randomly scrolling through Craigslist. *You could previously sell things in groups so this is a more formal expansion of that*

I've got a couple of apps on my phone that allow you to get cashback for doing what you're already going to do..shop. | Game Developer Barbie (Photo: Amazon) |
This makes our little geek hearts happy! Mattel recently released another addition to the Career of the Year Line and it's a Game Developer Barbie! I think they got it right this time...the last attempt, a book, which they made Barbie seem like she didn't have it all together, broke more things than she fixed sent the wrong message. She comes with a laptop, tablet, and headset and there is even actual code on her screen! I am ordering one to put on my desk! You can get them for $12.99 on Amazon, they will be back in stock on June 19th!
Happy Friday!

My space heater gets a regular workout year round, and currently I keep a sweater or something on my chair...mind you it's almost officially summer. So I got excited when I ran across the Comfy App.

Conference recaps are always a tad tricky because you don’t
want to omit the big things, but I don’t want to ramble on endlessly either so
here we go! This past Wednesday Google kicked off their annual I/O
conference. Google’s I/O, like most tech
conferences, the keynote presentation had well.... some things to take note of....
According to the calendar it's spring, and with this season comes Spring cleaning right? You change out your wardrobe, linens for lighter materials and colors, and get rid of things you aren't using. With so much of our lives being in the digital space, we tend to do alot of work/communication on our tablets. laptops, and smartphones. Now you can't take a broom and duster to these things but like your house digital cleanup is something you can do too!
I know you're thinking who accessorizes when preparing to work out? Why does she have a bracelet on to go jogging? No it's not a bracelet on my arm, it's my Bella Beat LEAF! As a parent, you want your kids to get good grades, I know as a kid it was a precedent set in my house. I had a deal with my mom, she promised me $5 for every "A". Don't laugh that was alot back in the 90's when it added up. I myself am now a mother and I do like to reward my son for good grades, but what if there was an app that could do that too? Well Kudzoo is that app.

| FB Pre-Live setup (Photo: Facebook) |
Live Streaming is becoming more and more popular so of course one of the largest platforms has to have a hand in it. Periscope is owned by Twitter, and at the end of last year Facebook rolled out Facebook Live for iOS with the Facebook Live feature rolled out to Android devices a little over a month ago. Now this isn't the breaking news if you have been on Facebook lately or at least in the past few months. What is notable right now are the new features that are being added.
What has all wheel drive, 29MPG, and is Dynamic Blue Mica? The 2016 Mazda CX-3 that I got to drive! When it was first dropped off it definitely caught my eye with the bold blue exterior color, that and the fact that it's smaller than what I would normally drive. Yes, I am only 5'3" but I like cars with a little weight to them, and my son is almost my size so space is a necessary thing. But good things can come in small packages right?
Interested in journalism, looking for a new way to connect with your audience? Or perhaps you've been thinking about starting a podcast on something that interests you, well maybe downloading the Anchor app will help with that....

app Wednesday, March 23, 2016
It was a usual case of the Mondays that had an underlying small buzz thanks to a keynote event from Apple. Now normally you don't hear much of a fuss surrounding Apple events until about June, when the tech giant has it's WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) or in September when they announce new products. But this event confirmed what rumors had been saying for weeks....

Remember a while back when there were rumblings of a "Yelp for people"?
Well those rumblings are over and the Peeple app is here. The
Peeple App was designed to allow people to give and receive
recommendations on well..people. It allows you to rate people in three
categories Personal, Professional, and Dating. The intent from
creators, Nicole McMcullough and Julia Cordray, is "to change the way
you learn about people online". You would think that with all the
social media platforms out there that there are plenty of ways to learn
about people, or going out to network is always an option as well. But
there are some rules, this isn't just an opinionated free for all:

Everything nowadays when it comes to technology is thinner, faster, smarter, but what about those things that can't necessarily be upgraded when your contract is up or when the warranty runs out? Like your house for instance? I've got a few things that can help turn your home into a smart home, and seemingly won't break the bank....
A vulnerability known as MouseJack and how your wireless mouse could be at risk
Bastille Thursday, February 25, 2016![]() |
If you use a computer at work, home or carry one to use with your laptop then you should be listening. There are some of us that still don't mind the mess of cables and peripherals running across our desk but more than likely you have a wireless mouse or keyboard. This is especially common when you are using one with a laptop, you can just connect your USB receiver and have the functionality and feel of a regular mouse instead of the touch pad. Quite frankly almost everyone should have one, Five Below sells wireless mice for $5. But did you know your wireless mouse is susceptible to being hacked due to a security vulnerability called, MouseJack?

The AskDC App, an app every woman should have installed on her phone
app Thursday, February 18, 2016
In today's society it's common for girls to go out in groups, or meet up for drinks after work. In "walkable" cities, which DC is aiming to be, this is even more common. You can catch an Uber, a bus, train, or depending on where you live you can walk. But although we're independent navigating the city streets alone isn't always a safe option. But the AskDC app was designed to help provide an extra piece of safety right from your smartphone.
Be still our nerdy hearts...The sequel to The White Queen is happening!
Phillipa Gregory Wednesday, February 10, 2016![]() |
| The White Queen (Photo: Starz) |
First off hello!!! I've been away but starting back with this bit of news makes me sooo excited! If you're a Phillipa Gregory fan, as I am, then you'll be thrilled to know that Starz has given the greenlight to the sequel to The White Queen series! The original series, debuted back in 2013 and captured audiences immediately. The 10 episode series combined Gregory's books The White Queen, The Red Queen, and the Kingmaker's Daughter together. The sequel will pick up where these books/show ended with the next book The White Princess. I've already read the book and can't wait to see what Starz pulls off for this! I am hoping that Rebecca Ferguson will reprise her role as Elizabeth Woodville.
