With today being New Year's Eve, I thought I would close out the year with some of my favorite geek memes. Enjoy and Happy New Year!

While I was browsing the Internet I came across a blurb about the App Inventor from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). This cloud based software allows for anyone to learn how to develop apps for the Android devices.
Well while I was out and about checking out the after Christmas sales, I finally ran across a Microsoft store; needless to say I was like a kid in a candy store. I got a chance to really toy with the item I didn't get for Christmas, the Microsoft Surface tablet.
T-Mobile is now offering 200MB of free mobile internet for tablets! How cool is that? But the part that really should get people is that you can either purchase a new tablet from T-Mobile with no money down and get the free data or you can bring in your own tablet (must be 3G/4G capable, not wifi only) and get the free data.
After months of waiting and some not so good fortune for it's parent company, the Blackberry messenger app, or more commonly known as BBM has arrived for iOS and Android. I don't know about you but that was one of my favorite features on the Blackberry, and now I don't have to have one to use it. It is quite frankly a really good chat app, too bad Blackberry didn't take on that innovation before the smartphone onslaught from Android and iPhone.
Less than two months after revealing the new iPhones and iOS 7, Apple held another event yesterday on October 22nd to reveal what else? More Apple products, such as the revamped Macbook Pros, Mac Pro, and new iPads. They also gave more details on the new Mac OS X, Mavericks.

Nintendo not only dropped the price on the Wii U today, but also launched a cheaper DS model, the Nintendo 2DS.

A little over a week after their big presentation at E3, Microsoft is already getting rid of it's policies on used games and constant internet connectivity. If you remember they were initially requiring that the Xbox connect back to the Xbox servers at least once every 24 hours or the gaming functionality would be disabled. They were also not allowing the playing of used/rented games, so no more sharing games with family.

So I am sure that you have heard about the ressurection of MySpace, courtesy of Justin Timberlake. It has some of the old features of MySpace but some new ones as well. I logged in to poke around....

Good news for iPhone users, today Microsoft announced that Office Mobile for iPhone is finally available.
I am here for this sequel! The follow-up to the amazing movie 300 has arrived! Check it out
It's here, it's here!! The official trailer for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. Although the movie isn't due out to December, this should apease the masses or it will make the anticipation worst lol. Enjoy!

Not only is E3 this week, but Apple's WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) was this week and it looks like they focused on software this go round, well there is some hardware stuff but let's dive in!

E3 is this week and with it two thirds of the gaming trifecta have showed their hands. We got a look at Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's Playstation 4. Now of course each console has some pretty cool features not to mention it's own loyal base of gamers, but let's take a look at how these two gaming titans stack up against one another.

Have you ever looked up and all of your pictures were gone from Facebook, or your account is suspended on a social media site? In this day and age of what can seem like social media overload, there is now a service that caters to that "what if'".

I pretty sure we are all familiar with the red kiosks outside of grocery stores, 7-Elevens, and various other stores. You can rent movies for $1.27/day and that's not a bad deal, it's cheaper than ordering itfrom your cable provider. Redbox has teamed up with Verizon to offer their own instant streaming service, Redbox Instant.

Microsoft is finally making Outlook apart of the Windows RT (which is the Windows 8 OS that runs on the tablets). This will be bundled with the new tablets, but will be pushed to those already purchased via the Windows 8.1 update. Now this isn't the same as Outlook 2013 which is for desktops, it is designed for touch interfaces and does have reduced funtionality, but it fills that request that many Windows RT consumers have been asking for.
Is it just me or does Microsoft have a knack for leaving out the obvious things sometimes? Nevertheless it is a good improvement, no exact date has been released for when this will occur but it is expected later this year.

So this week it was discovered by researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology that they have developed a charger that can hack an iPhone in less that a minute! I am an iOS device user so that's alarming thought, but I am also not a user that believes that anything is completely impenetrable to hacking, if someone developed the software, then there is another individual that can hack it, just that simple. The device was running the lastest version of iOS
This post is for my fellow gamers. This week Microsoft finally unveiled it's new Xbox console and it's called the Xbox One. Most were thinking that it would be called Xbox 720, or something along those lines, but the name signifies Microsoft's push to make this the one device you will need for entertainment.

Earlier today Blackberry announced that the Blackberry Messenger is going cross-platform and will be available for iOS and Android devices. The application is scheduled for release this summer, no exact date as of yet, I'll keep you posted! So will you be downloading BBM to your Android or iOS device?
Today Amazon launched new currency just for Kindle Fire users, Amazon Coins. In celebration of the launch, they have given existing and new customers 500 free coins, which is equal to $5 dollars of actual currency. These coins can only be redeemed in the Amazon App store for in-app purchases. Also it is only good for one account, so you won't get multiple free coin disbursements if you have more than one Kindle Fire registered to your account. The more you buy the larger your discount, so it's kind of like when you buy tokens are Chuck E. Cheese. The coins are good for one year from the date you receive them. So what are you going to use your Amazon coins on??

So as a tech aficionado I do preach making sure that your computer is updated, including individual programs and also making sure you have some type of antivirus/security program to protect your computer. Recently in the midst of my computer cleanup and updating I finally ran the update to iTunes 11.0.2, and aside from the interface change that I wasn't fond of, it seemed fine. But a few days later I went to import some new music and noticed that my entire iTunes library was gone!!!!!!!!!!!! The horror!!!!!

I have been on the search for a new camera for a few years now, as the Polaroid digital camera I have is getting old. Recently I came across the Samsung Galaxy camera, and it has been added to my Geek wish list. Now I am not crossing over to the Android tablet or phone family, but the specs on the camera are great! check them out below:
Rumors have been swirling about a iWatch, what is it you say? There are supposedly people being brought in to work on this device at Apple, now this is all rumor right now. But this iWatch might have some of the capabilities of the iPhone or iPad all on your wrist. Will you be getting an iWatch?
Attention all Game of Thrones fans, the Game of Thrones Ascent game BETA is finally here! I have been playing all weekend and love it. I also applaud the creators, Distuptor Beam for their swift repsonse to the huge influx of users by adding more servers. However, it is only available through Facebook, so if you have a Facebook account then you will get to play. I also enjoy the fact that you don't have to be friends with the players on Facebook to add them in the game. So if you are a GOT fan like I am log into your Facebook account and get to playing!
Firefox is going mobile. Mozilla announced it's mobile OS on Sunday at the MWC in Barcelona. Think of it as their answer to the Chrome OS. They have already partnered with LG, Huawei and ZTE to produce the handsets. There isn't a plan in place yet to market in the US, but time will tell.
So would you be interested in a Firefox OS device?

Who doesn't like free software? I don't know any people who don't but anyway, Adobe is giving away is famed Creative Suite software (version 2) for free.
